Welcome to GoPro Escapes

There are dive trips.

And then there are the trips you’re still talking about years later.

For more than 20 years, we’ve worked across the dive industry, traveled the world, filmed underwater, worked alongside dive professionals, scientists, conservation groups and some incredible people—and somewhere along the way, we learned something:

The destination is only part of what makes a great expedition.

It’s the people you experience it with. It’s what you learn while you’re there. It’s getting access to places, encounters and people you normally wouldn’t. And it’s coming home with more than a camera full of clips you’ll probably never look at again.

That’s why Aquatics Expeditions are back.

And this time, we’re doing it as part of GoPro Escapes.

So, What Is a GoPro Escape?

In May 2026,  ⁠GoPro and  ⁠Dive with Buddy announced the next chapter of GoPro Escapes: creator-led group dive experiences built around adventure, storytelling and community. Trips can now be discovered and booked through the Buddy platform, bringing GoPro Escapes together in one place.  

But for us at Aquatics, the idea goes deeper.

We want to rethink what a group dive trip can be.

That means liveaboards in remote corners of the world. Land-based expeditions. Conservation projects. Scientists and researchers are joining us in the field. GoPro athletes, advocates and guest creators sharing what they know. PADI education. New diving techniques. Photography. Filmmaking.

And sometimes it simply means putting an incredible group of people on a boat together and going somewhere worth exploring.

Every Escape should have a reason to exist beyond simply going diving.

Stop Coming Home With Hours of Footage You Never Use

We’ve seen the same thing happen over and over again.

Someone buys a GoPro before a big trip. They jump in the water, turn it on and record everything.

Seven days later, they have hours of footage.

And then…nothing.

The clips sit on a memory card or hard drive because nobody ever taught them what happens between owning a GoPro and actually telling a story with one.

That’s a major part of what we want to change.

GoPro Escapes officially incorporate underwater filming workshops and opportunities to learn from GoPro athletes, storytellers and professional guides.   On our Aquatics expeditions, we take that philosophy into the water with you.

We’ll work on camera setup and settings. Mounts. Composition. Lighting. Movement. Shooting underwater versus topside. Knowing when not to hit record.

But most importantly, we teach you to shoot with intent.

Instead of recording an entire dive and hoping something interesting happens, you start thinking about the story before you press record.

What shot establishes where you are?

What tells us who is there?

What detail matters?

What happens before you jump in?

What happens after you climb back onto the boat?

How do five or six intentional clips tell a better story than 45 minutes of continuous footage?

And once we have it, what do we do with it?

That’s where editing and storytelling come in.

The goal isn’t just to help you capture better footage.

We want you to come home knowing how to turn your adventures into stories.

We’ve Spent Years Finding These Places

Aquatics wasn’t created from a list of destinations we found online.

Joe Levinson and Diran Devletian have spent more than two decades working throughout the dive and travel industries.

We’ve traveled and worked across the Pacific, French Polynesia, Hawai‘i, the Bahamas, Mexico, South America, the Galápagos and beyond. We’ve worked with private groups, dive operators, PADI professionals, filmmakers, conservation organizations, researchers and scientific projects.

We’ve filmed documentaries.

We’ve joined research and tagging projects.

We’ve trained divers and dive professionals.

We’ve spent a lot of time on boats.

And we’ve learned that when you go matters almost as much as where you go.

So we’re not interested in filling a calendar just to have trips to sell.

We look for the right destination, the right operator, the right season and, whenever possible, something happening there that makes that particular expedition special.

The Next Chapter Starts Now

The calendar we’re building reflects exactly that philosophy.

In January 2027, we’re heading back to the Galápagos, aboard Galaxy Diver III for an expedition north to Wolf and Darwin—one of the world’s iconic destinations for schooling hammerheads, Galápagos sharks, rays, dolphins and other pelagic encounters.  

In March, we’re going to Key Largo, combining reef and wreck diving with coral restoration, conservation work, storytelling and PADI education.  

And that’s only the beginning.

We’re working on the Maldives, including an expedition designed around one of the most extraordinary seasonal manta opportunities in the region.

We’re looking at remote liveaboards, islands and destinations where timing matters.

Some will be easy.

Some won’t.

Some will require long flights, long crossings and early mornings.

That’s kind of the point.

Come for the Diving. Leave With More.

We’re not trying to build the biggest dive trips.

We’d rather build the ones people remember.

Small groups. Great operators. Interesting people. Extraordinary water. Education that actually gets used. Conservation when we can contribute meaningfully. And enough time together to turn a collection of strangers into a crew.

You’ll dive.

You’ll learn.

You’ll shoot.

You’ll edit.

You’ll probably get something wrong, change your settings, jump back in and try it again.

And somewhere along the way, you’ll become a better diver, a better storyteller—or hopefully both.

That’s what Aquatics Expeditions and GoPro Escapes are about for us.

We’re back.

And we’ve got a lot of ocean left to explore.
