Most dive trips end when the boat docks. The photos get posted, the gear gets rinsed, and the data like how many dives, which reefs, what you actually saw down there; well most of the time, disappears into nobody's records.
We do it differently.
Every GoPro Escapes trip logs dives, wildlife sightings, and conservation work directly through the Buddy app.
It's a small habit that adds up to something real: a running record of reef health, marine life patterns, and the actual impact of the work we do on trips like our Key Largo coral out-planting days and Dive Against Debris cleanups.
Why logging matters more than it seems
A single dive log entry doesn't do much on its own. But hundreds of them, across hundreds of divers, over years, that can be a real dataset. Marine researchers and conservation groups increasingly rely on citizen science exactly like this: divers logging what they see, where, and when, building a picture no single research team could gather alone.
When we run a coral out-planting day with I.CARE or a Dive Against Debris cleanup with REEF.org, logging it isn't paperwork. It's proof the work happened, and it's data those organizations can actually use.

Every dive — site, depth, conditions, duration
Marine life sightings — from a passing eagle ray to a full hammerhead school
Conservation activity — coral out-planted, debris collected, cleanup dives completed
None of this requires extra work from you beyond diving the way you'd dive anyway. The Buddy app does the organizing; you just show up and dive.

Beyond the conservation angle, logging through Buddy means you leave every GoPro Escapes trip with an actual record of what you did; useful for tracking progress toward Master Scuba Diver, useful for remembering which site had that turtle you can't stop talking about, useful for planning where you want to dive next.
We build our trips around real diving and real conservation work, not just good photos. Logging every dive is just one of the ways we make sure that work counts for something after we've all gone home.
